Seafarers from 12 different cruise lines came together in August with Norwegian Seafarers Union (NSU) Officials to have a one-day cruise seminar. A smaller version of our Cruise Seminars that take place around the world every year, the seminar covered many of the same subjects, such as bullying and harassment, how to deal with problems on board, and understanding the CBA (collective bargaining agreement).
Led by NSU Officers, Ni Made Yudani and Iriane Irenne Thamrin, around 40 seafarers worked through problems, using role play, discussion and presentations. This is a programme that the NSU office in Bali has developed over many years. It means that many more seafarers who are not able to attend our bigger seminars have access to the important training that we deliver to help seafarers on cruise ships have a better life and understand that they are protected and have rights.
