The ITF, in collaboration with the Norwegian Seafarers Union, has launched a network for women working at sea.
Today, around just 2% of all seafarers in the world are women. The Women at Sea Network aims to be a resource to promote inclusion and promotion of women in the maritime industry. Seafaring is an exciting and rewarding job. Women have unique experience, knowledge and skills to offer the industry and the Network works to encourage more women to take up a job at sea.
The Women at Sea Network launched on 7th March to coincide with International Women's Day.
The webinar was chaired by the ITF Maritime Coordinator, Jacqueline Smith, and includes speakers from the Norwegian Seafarers Union, the IMO and from the shipping industry. You can watch it here: https://www.itfseafarers.org/en/event
You can explore the website here: https://www.itfseafarers.org/en/issues/women-at-sea It is designed to provide resources and support for women working at sea or considering a career at sea.
