#IExistToo forum 2023 celebrates LGBTQ+ in the maritime industry

NSU is proud to have participated in this historic forum in Panama

Norwegian Seafarers Union is so proud to have taken part in the very first #IExistToo forum in Panama this year. For the first time, key players in the maritime industry came together and made a pledge to protect and develop LGBTQ+ people within the maritime industry.

Experts from around the world joined six panels to discuss various issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community in maritime. Discussions included how the maritime industry has included LGBTQ+ people, how it can further help visibiltiy and inclusion and a look at masculinity. There were also panels on women's rights and how the industry can change for the positive.

Check out the full agenda and panels here: https://conferences.ncl.ac.uk/iexisttoo2023/ and check out the photos here: https://www.instagram.com/iexisttoo_official/ where you can see who took part and what people thought of the conference.

It is an historic moment and we are proud to have been part of it. We are looking forward to seeing what IExistToo will do next and how we, as a union, can do to help make LGBTQ+ people working in the maritime feel safer at work.
