Indian government commits to welfare of seafarers in MOU with ISWAN

The Directorate General of Shipping India and ISWAN sign MoU to strengthen the welfare and holistic wellbeing of Indian seafarers and their families

The Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping) in India, and the International Seafarers’ Welfare and Assistance Network (ISWAN) have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a framework of cooperation to enhance the welfare, training, safety, and wellbeing of Indian seafarers and their families through collaborative initiatives.

The MoU includes training of cadets and ratings, the promotion of Port Welfare Committees, a family outreach programme by ISWAN, access to ISWAN's 24/7 helpline through DG Shipping's platform, promotion of a gender safety campaign and other joing regional events.
