Full revision of a Collective Bargaining Agreement usually occurs every two to three years. In between, usually every year at a minimum, the employer and the Union will meet to discuss minor adjustments to the CBA, salaries and other benefits.
It is important that the crew members covered by our CBAs have have the possibility to make suggestions for the negotiations and we encourage you to contact us if you have any suggested changes/improvements or other issues you believe is important that we try to improve in the CBA. Please click here and fill out the form and e-mail it to us at nsumiami@nsu.org
Please be advised that certain issues will always be prioritised in negotiations between employer and Union. These are ILO regulations, particularly issues regarding the new Maritime Labour Convention 2006 (MLC), which will most likely be implemented by 2012/2013 and benchmarks required by the ITF. You can read more about the MLC 2006 and the ITF here: www.itfseafarers.org/ILOMLC.cfm
