The International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) is an international trade union federation of transport workers' unions. Any independent trade union with members in the transport industry is eligible for membership of the ITF.
779 unions representing over 4,668,950 transport workers in 155 countries are members of the ITF. It is one of several Global Federation Unions allied with the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC).
The ITF's headquarters is located in London and it has offices in Nairobi, Ouagadougou, Tokyo, New Dehli, Rio de Janeiro, Georgetown, Moscow and Brussels.
The ITF is a large organization with a wide range of activities going on at any given time. The main focus within the maritime sector are currently anti piracy activities, adaptation to the upcoming implementation of the 2006 Maritime Labour Convention and general improvement of the working conditions for the thousands of crew members working onboard various vessels around the world.
