If you have a work related problem you need help with, we are here to assist you. For seafarers covered by our CBA, we have established a grievance handling process, which is briefly described below. Grievance handling is part of your tariff membership in the Union and is of no extra cost for you.
Topics we usually handle deal with (but not limited to) sick pay issues, medical treatment, disability, dismissals, terminations, harassment, rehire and CBA interpretation. We can help you understand what your rights are in a certain situation and represent you when dealing with your employer to make sure you receive the benefits you are entitled to according to your specific Collective Bargaining Agreement.
If a case is of grave severity and/or a matter of principle, an attorney appointed/employed by the Union will be assigned to represent you. We do however reserve the right to determine when/if a specific case merits handling by an attorney appointed/employed by the Union.
